Giant Mine

Remediation and definition of long-term development potential

Hired by the Federal Government to assist in the Giant Mine Remediation Project, Fotenn obtained municipal land use planning approvals and coordinated other approvals processes in an efficient and timely manner. Additionally, Fotenn prepared a consultation program in order to develop a long-term vision for the use of lands. The consultation involved local residents, First Nations groups, Government Departments and a variety of other stakeholders.

Located in Yellowknife, NT, the former mine requires long-term remediation for environmental contamination by arsenic trioxide. Since a wide range of jurisdictions affect the mine, the project involved extensive multi-jurisdictional approvals.
