January 27, 2021
On January 19th and 20th, 2021, and for the second year in a row, Miguel Tremblay, Partner at Fotenn Planning + Design along with Roderick Lahey, Architect, RLA jointly taught the Planning and Zoning module of the “Certificate in Real Estate Development” offered together by the Carleton University Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism and the Sprott School of Business. As a result of Covid-19 restrictions, the certificate modules were carried out virtually, but were equally successful.
The second year certificate provides a comprehensive approach to city building, land planning, contract and land use law, marketing and transactions, financial fundamentals and pro forma formulation, all geared towards developers and senior public sector employees.
Miguel’s 2 day session included Stuart Craig, VP at Riocan and Larry Beasley, Founding Principal at Beasley and Associates as guest speakers and presenters. Through the use of case studies including the redevelopment of the Lincoln Field shopping centre in Ottawa, the participants reviewed complication topics and documents ranging from Official Plans to heritage guidelines.
