998 Highway 15, Kingston – Waterfront Community Plan
From a Quarry to a Waterfront Community
Fotenn was retained in the provision of full Master Planning and Urban Design services for the visioning and redevelopment of a former quarry site in Kingston, Ontario. Specifically, this involved 17 hectares of land fronting onto Cataraqui River, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, National Historic Site and Canadian Heritage River. Our work involved the development of a comprehensive plan seeking to repurpose the existing quarry site into a waterfront community, providing new accessible pedestrian connections and access to the river front while preserving, naturalizing and protecting the heritage views from Cataraqui River.
The redevelopment will incorporate various low-rise single family residential typologies, storm water management facilities, and a linear park that promotes walking and cycling along the heritage
Cataraqui River.
